Heart attack for apparently normal people is becoming quite commonplace. These ‘healthy’ people have normal blood pressure, low LDL or ‘bad cholesterol’ levels and still get a heart attack. So maybe the standard tests to assess cardiovascular risk in the population are not adequate. One recent study does suggest that an additional bio-marker should be the high sensitivity C-reactive Protein (hsCRP) test. The additional test for heart disease will identify individuals not captured in standard tests which look at age, family history of heart disease, hypertension or high blood pressure and whether a person is a smoker or has smoke before.
