When my wife and I took a vacation last winter, she became very ill from something she had eaten, and we had to take her to the emergency room at a hospital. She was treated for dehydration and vomiting, and she was kept overnight until she was feeling better. When we were first planning our trip, our travel agent advised that we purchase travel insurance, and I am so glad that we followed her advice. Had we not bought this policy, we would have been stuck with a huge medical bill that would have taken us months or years to pay. We were able to get the care she needed without worrying about the cost.
