Your child should always have a Consent Letter for Child Travel every time s/he travels with only one parent, with someone other than his/her parents or alone. This rule may vary from country to country but the general guideline is there. A consent letter states that the parents of the child have given consent to let the child travel with the involved companion. This letter is commonly shown to authority should the need arrive and may also state emergency contact numbers in case it becomes necessary to contact the child’s parents throughout the duration of the trip. The letter usually needs to be certified by a notary public, lawyer or a taker of oaths.
