The most fantastic vacation set up that I have ever seen was a pair of villas on a single estate in the south of France.  The two houses are both fabulous and the only question that I can not answer is which of the two is the very best villa St Remy de Provence has available.  St Remy de Provence is less than thirty minutes from Avignon, which means that Paris is less than three hours away.  Do not be surprised if you do not feel much need to go to Paris, though.  St Remy de Provence has great shopping, fantastic food and gorgeous countryside.
